Believe it or not, but even as a Realtor I can understand that you will consider this option.
After all you might save a lot of money in commission.
But what about the paperwork? Have you recently seen a Real Estate sales contract? (My last one was 23 pages)
Do you fully understand each paragraph?
Do you know what to do if something goes wrong?
How about advertising? Where would you advertise?
How much is it going to cost you?
How would you market your property?
Showing of your property, are you available all the time to show you home or condo? Can people reach you by phone all day long? How do you make sure it is save to show your home to a stranger?
Last question, do you really have the time and resources to take on this big project? More than 80% of the FSBO that I see out there realize within a few weeks that they just can’t do it on their own and down the road they hire a Realtor to assist them. So, before you put your FSBO sign in the yard, think about it and make sure you can go all the way to closing. Do not loose a potential buyer or valuable time because you were not prepared.
Sit down talk about it with friends and make a list of things that could happen, go over a few different scenarios and do your homework.
