What and who is this new alliance?
The Gulf Partnership for Marine Fisheries
was just found a few weeks ago.
A few people came up with a fantastic idea.
The Southern Offshore Fishing Association S.O.F.A
and the Fishing Rights Alliance FRA
S.O.F.A. represents the commercial side of the Gulf fishing industries.
and FRA represents the recreational side of the Gulf fishing industries.
Both groups have finally come together to begin a fight for a great cause.
Protect the Florida fisheries.
This is an issue that concerns all of us.
Our fishing industry is very important to us Floridians.
I am a Florida resident and I want to be able to eat fresh fish caught right here in our own backyard.
I am also a Realtor, and I want to be able to attract more people, buyers and tourists to the area, and if we loose the fishing industry, we loose a great natural resource that is very attractive to my clients.
The Gulf Partnership for Marine Fisheries had their first official meeting last week in Clearwater, I was one of the guests and I was very impressed by the turn out.
The executive director of SOFA, Robert Spaeth, and executive director of FRA, Denise O’Hearn, made some very convincing and compelling arguments and explained the idea and the cause. I also had a chance to talk to Dr. Trevor Kenchington and to listen to his very impressed presentation. It was an eye-opener.
